Javed Miandad May Resign

Javed Miandad has had enough of the current goings in the Pakistan Cricket Board and he has conveyed to the Abdul Qadir that it’s really not possible for him to continue in this troublesome situation, where he cannot do,suggest or say anything for the betterment of the system.

The Pakistan board has decided to issue a circular in the next 24 hours to prevent its players and officials from speaking to the media. The move comes days after Pakistan’s sports minister complained about PCB officials making “statement after statement” which caused “a lot of confusion and differences”.

Tait eyes Tests after recall

A surprised Shaun Tait has looked to the future after being picked in Australia’s limited-overs squads by saying a return to Test action is “not out of the question”. Tait has been hit by hamstring injuries this season, forcing him out of one-day and four-day games, but he said he was in good shape for the Twenty20 matches in Melbourne on Sunday and Brisbane on Tuesday.

“My body’s the main factor for me,” Tait said in the Australian. “It feels pretty good at the moment. If I can maintain it and bowl well then [Test selection is] not out of the question.”

Strauss confident of Pietersen’s support

Andrew Strauss was formally unveiled as England’s Test captain at a packed press conference at Lord’s, after a tumultuous 24 hours for English cricket surrounding the double departure of Kevin Pietersen and the coach Peter Moores. He was not, however, named England’s one-day captain, a decision that Strauss admitted was still in “a state of flux”.

Strauss, 31, was thrust into the hot seat yesterday and spoke of his determination to draw a line under the fractious events of the past few days, while confirming that he “has no problem” working with Pietersen, a “world-class player” whom he firmly believes will support him during his tenure.

PCB Downsizing

Pakistan Cricket Board has started feeling intense heat. While not giving much to the players, PCB has cut down on it’s inwards expenses and now thinking about getting rid of the army of officials, most of them technocrats, who got the appointment as the political favor.

All the nominated members of the Pakistan Cricket board (PCB) Governing Board have been relieved of their places while the Board Chief Financial Officer Arif Kitchlew has also tendered his resignation. The technocrats who have been relieved from the job include Syed Ali Reza (President National Bank), Farooq Rahimtoolah, Lt Gen (rtd) Munir Hafeez and Moin Afzal.
