Abdul Qadir named captain for Seniors Cricket Series
Former champion leg-spinner Abdul Qadir was named as skipper as the Pakistan Seniors squad for four one-day matches home series against their Indian counterparts was announced .
The first match of the series will be played at the National Stadium on Sunday, said a Pakistan Seniors Cricket Board (PSCB) press release.
This would be a reciprocal visit by the Indians as the Pakistani seniors toured India last year in December to play a similar number of matches, which they won by a 3-1 margin.
All matches of the series will be telecast live on PTV World and also be broadcast live by Radio Pakistan.
The Pakistan team: Abdul Qadir (captain), Javed Miandad, Aamer Sohail, Rashid Latif, Aaqib Javed, Manzoor Elahi, Mansoor Akhtar, Ijaz Fakih, Naved Anjum, Ijaz Ahmed Jr., Azam Khan, Saleem Jaffer, Shujaat Ali and Raees Ahmed. Mushtaq Mohammad will be the team’s manager cum coach.
The Indian squad: Mohammad Azharuddin (captain), Syed Kirmani, Manoj Prabhakar, Nayan Mongia, Chetan Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma, Vivek Razdan, Pravin Amre, W V Raman, Samir Dighe, David Johnson, Noel David, Amarjeet Singh Kaypee, Anand Padmanabhan. R N Chaturvedi and J K Mahendra are the team’s officials.
Fixtures: April 23 First one-day match at National Stadium Karachi. April 25 Second one-day match at Jinnah Stadium Sialkot. April 27 Third one-day match at Sheikhupura Stadium. April 30 Fourth one-day match at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
