All Efforts to Save India’s Tour to Pakistan

India is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on January 4 to play three Tests, five One-day Internationals and a Twenty20 International. This series is extraordinarily important and crucial for the Pakistan Cricket Board, which is thirsty to host some real foreign team on the soil of Pakistan, which hasn’t seen any foreign tour quite in a while. Pakistan has not played a home Test this year after Australia postponed its tour in March, citing security fears.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief operating officer Saleem Altaf has allayed fears that Indian might not come for Pakistani cricket because foreign teams have been refusing to tour the country over security concerns. But the situation is quite murky, as the senior Indian players including their captain are still uncertain.

PCB chairman is taking personal interest in this series. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt will now tour India to try to convince his counterparts to tour his country. Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousuf Raza Gilani last week said he will also talk to his Indian counterpart in an effort to save the tour and assured the Indian team that security arrangements would be comprehensive.

BCCI should respond positively.
