Asia Cup : Sri Lanka Charges Up
If there is one team in the world, which could turn the day upside down from out of the blue against all the odds with their aggressive instincts, then it’s Sri Lanka, who have proved their mettle again and again, and after thrashing the world cricket with their extraordinary talent and game, they are looking forward to regain their winning streak.
Sri Lankan performances are in limbo and in shambles since the last few months, and the internal strife in the team and the management which looks after the Lankan cricket has taken its toll on the team’s performance. Over the last 13 months, Sri Lanka have only won eight out of 22 ODIs, and three of those wins were against Bangladesh at home.
Besides of the skirmishes and the bad luck, Sri Lanka has also suffered from many injuries and their front line bowlers and batsmen have been unavailable due to the rising injuries and fitness problems. Lasith Malinga, Dilhara Fernando, and Farveez Maharoof all missed the tour of the West Indies, and Malinga and Maharoof have been ruled out of the Asia Cup as well.
But the Sri Lankan skipper, Mahela Jayawardene is very much hopeful and wants to defend their Asia Cup with might and full force, and they can do it.
