Asif Likely to Return Before Sri Lanka Tour
As the Sri Lankan tour goes to the clouds and new conflicts arises over the schedules of the matches, Pakistan Cricket Board has started looking foward towards Bangladesh.
PCB officials are also making efforts to convince Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to reshuffle the dates of a one-day series that Pakistan are scheduled to play their in March. The PCB is exploring the option of pushing forward the five ODIs and a twenty20 game in Bangladesh in case Sri Lanka stick to their demand of a shortened tour.
That and PCB is trying to get its own house in order and as a first step they are trying to get back Mohammad Asif in the national team. Asif is also pressurising the PCB through both legal and political channels, to clear him so that he could resume his international career. Asif wants to be cleared as soon as possible so as to return to competitive cricket by appearing in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy – the country’s premier domestic event.
After discussions with the legal advisors, PCB has found a way. Asif did not fail Test while on national duty and now that there is a major possibility that PCB may call him back very soon.
