Aussie Tour Scrapped Justifiably
As the Australian tour to Pakistan has been scrapped by the Australian Board, many questions are hanging in the thick air over the future of cricket in Pakistan. Pakistan’s cricket is already on decline and the new talent seems to have dried up, and in these circumstances if no foreign teams comes to Pakistan, then it would be very detrimental to the future of cricket in the Pakistan.
One cannot blame the Cricket Australia for canceling the tour as they have every right to ensure the safety, security and welfare of their players and officials, and it was quite understandable after the series of suicide attacks in Lahore. Australian Department of Foreign Affairs warning about terrorist attacks and serious security fears also made the matter worse for the proposed tour.
“People feel the Australians are unjustified in pulling out, but Australia’s decision is understandable as everything that happens in Pakistan is magnified to larger proportions abroad,” said Imran Khan the former captain of Pakistan.
We need to put our own house in order before we criticize others. Who would want to come in the city which is rocking with attacks, so it’s high time Pakistan Cricket Board puts the pressure on the security officials to avoid such disappointments in the future.
