Autobiography of Mushtaq Mohammad launched

Former Test captain Mushtaq Mohammad’s autobiography ‘Inside Out’ was launched here on Tuesday night in the presence of a host of sports stars at an impressive ceremony.
Speakers including Mushtaq’s elder brother Hanif Mohammad showered praises on the former skipper regarded among the most accomplished cricketers of his era at the book launching ceremony hosted by Saudi Pak Bank President Mansoor M. Khan.
Mushtaq, who played 57 Tests and ten One-day Internationals (ODIs) for Pakistan in a career spanning over almost two decades (1959 to 1979), made an emotional speech at the occasion as he told a packed audience about the pride of playing for Pakistan.
A nostalgic Mushtaq talked about his playing days and about his brothers, who too excelled for Pakistan at the international cricketing stage during the sports’ romantic era.
Mushtaq, 62, said one of the reasons why he decided to write ‘Inside Out’ was to tell the cricket fans about his life as an international cricketer.
He praised the Saudi Bank president and his colleague Mariam Paracha for their enormous support in making his autobiography a reality.
Hanif, the most famous of the five Mohammad brothers, said if any of his siblings was best equipped to write a book it was Mushtaq. “He (Mushtaq) is a natural story teller. Even as a kid he knew that art and I am very pleased that he decided to write a book on his life,†said the Little Master.
Mansoor M. Khan said his bank came out to support Mushtaq’s project with the belief that he is a national hero who has achieved great feats for the country. “Mushtaq is one of the legends of Pakistan cricket and we are proud to be associated with his autobiography,†said Mansoor, himself a former hockey player.
Prominent among those who attended the ceremony were former cricket stars Javed Miandad, Sadiq Mohammad, Salahuddin Sallu, Naseem-ul-Ghani, Moin Khan and former hockey Olympian Islahuddin Siddiqui.
