Best Wishes To Geoff Lawson
The former England batsman Woolmer, who died during the World Cup in the Caribean approximately fine month ago. Bob Woolmer’s Widow, Gill, who lives in South Africa, has wished Geoff Lawson all the best. It is comforted for Lawson in the fact (Woolmer’s family) gave him their support and they do not any concerns whatsoever.
On the other side, in every congratulation message from Geoff Lawson’s friends after his appointment, friends have bombarded him with references to strangling, suicide bombings, flaming effigies and the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden.
Yet Geof Lawson, who leaves for Lahore on August 21st, denies having any doubts about his new role. He already decided to accept the two-year post when he received a letter form Woolmer’s Widow, Gill.
Lawson was shocked by what he described as an extraordinary misunderstanding of safety in Pakistan as he said. There are less concern than he would have going London or New York. He was in England in 2005 when all the bombs went off, and that was scary. People see the Lal Masjid shootout there and hear about bin Laden hiding in the bills of Pakistan. But it is life if you are hiding in outback Australia and you live in Sydney.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has demanded a major tournament victory in the next two years, a condition which Lawson deems to be fair.
He does not have fears of failure, he do not have fears of outside influences, he do not have fears of dealing with politics. Geoff Lawson has said that:
“For me, it is an adventure as will. You do not live there that much and I think that is a bit of a pity. I had love to live for three months with the people.”
Geof’s family will remain in Sydney, which he says is a practical solution for his son, who will begin senior high school next year.
