Board buries hatchet with Waqar?
A year after their bitter split, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and former Test captain Waqar Younis have finally made peace which might pave the way for the legendary fast bowler’s return as the bowling coach of the team.
The PCB has mended fences with Waqar almost a year after an acrimonious split over matters of authority and term which forced the former pacer to resign as bowling coach before the World Cup in West Indies.
Sources in the board confirmed said that Waqar had a constructive and positive meeting with board Chairman Nasim Ashraf during which the PCB chief apologised to the fast bowler for the fracas. “Ashraf admitted that the board didn’t treat Waqar fairly and the matter should have been handled more diplomatically,” the source stated.
Waqar, who formed a lethal new ball attack with Wasim Akram for over a decade, resigned after the board refused to send him to South Africa with the team and told him to coach at the National Academy in Lahore.
