Champion’s Trophy to Canada?
Organisers of next month’s Twenty20 tournament in Toronto are working on ambitious plans to lure the five World Cup-winning nations to North America and have them feature in a five-nation tournament this year, and if that is not possible then the next year or after a couple of years, but these organizers are throwing lots of weight here and there to hold this tournament this year.
“We are working on the idea of having the five World Cup winners competing against each other in a tournament of champions in Canada,” Noman Nabi, chairman of Sports International Marketing. Noman Nabi is the man behind the quadrangular tournament of cricket this year in Toronto. This Twenty20 tournament in Toronto from August 14-17 will feature Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh and hosts Canada.
As the ICC world is haggling over the prospect of holding champion’s trophy in Pakistan due to the security concerns of the Western nation, Pakistan is busy in the internal strifes in the team. PCB is all set to overlook Shoaib Akhtar for the Champion’s Trophy, because Shoaib is again showing stubbornness, and Mohammad Asif is once again entangled in the Doping scandal.
