Local organisers and officials of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) on Tuesday staged a demonstration against Australian umpire Darrell Hair for his allegation of ball tampering against the Pakistan team in the fourth and final cricket Test at The Oval on Sunday.

The rally started from Asghar Ali Shah Stadium and terminated at Karachi Press Club. They chanted slogans against Hair and expressed their support and solidarity with the Pakistani team and captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.

“We will stage another rally if any action was taken against Inzamam after the hearing on Friday,” they said.

The demonstrators demanded of the International Cricket Council (ICC) to impose a ten year ban on Darrell and conduct an independent inquiry for his allegation of ball tampering against the Pakistani team.

Secretary KCCA Prof Sirajul Islam speaking at the rally said the KCCA and the whole nation was behind Inzmam and Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar M Khan.

They condemned the discriminatory attitude of Darrell Hair towards Pakistan and other Asian teams and demanded from the ICC to declare the match as a draw.

Siraj Bukhari said with 26 cameras in operation during the Test match how could a bowler indulge in such a foolish act. “Hair took a unilateral decision for personal vendetta,” he pointed out.

He said Darrell Hair’s allegations were without any solid evidence and all the top England players were also stunned with the decision of umpire Darrell Hair.
