DHA receive DHA Inter-Deptt Cricket trophy

A prize distribution ceremony at the conclusion of the 2nd Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament was held here at the DHA Beach View Club on Thursday.

Administrator DHA Brig Maqsood Hussain was the chief guest of the function while former skipper and manager of the Pakistan cricket team, Zaheer Abbas, Munir Hussain President Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) and S Sirajul Islam Bukhari, Secretary KCCA, were also present on the occasion.

Ten top cricket teams of Karachi participated in the tournament. DHA and Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) played in the final. Given a target of 260 runs to chase, DHA easily achieved it winning the match convincingly by 10 wickets and with that also the tournament.

In the final, Nasim Khan of DHA scored a brilliant knock of 123 not out and overall scored 396 runs in seven matches of the tournament to clinch the best batsman of the series and the Man of the Match in the final awards.

Atif Maqbool of DHA was declared the best bowler. He took 16 wickets conceding 193 runs in seven matches.

The winning DHA team got a cash award of Rs 25,000 and the coveted trophy while Pak PWD received Rs 15,000 along with the runners-up trophy.
