Emissary of Champion’s Trophy
Pakistan’s cricket coach Geoff Lawson would perhaps successful in playing diplomat as he has failed miserably in enabling the Pakistani team of any worth. May be by convincing Australia and New Zealand to play Champion’s Trophy in Pakistan, he could earn his keep with the Pakistan Cricket Board, but that seems elusive so far.
We’re very short of time now. If we’re going to relocate now it needs to be made within the next few days. Operationally, it would be difficult but it’s certainly not an option that would be discarded and it could be relocated,” ICC General Manager (Cricket) Dave Richardson has said, but he is being negated by the senior ICC officials.Ponting, Sutherland, Michael Clarke and the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) Chief Executive Paul Marsh are pressurizing ICC to call it quits as far as Champion’s Trophy in Pakistan.
Champion’s Trophy is set to be held in Pakistan from 12th September come hell or come brimstone, not because ICC has some love lost with the Pakistan but because ICC is under pressure from ESPN Star Sports, which paid more than $1billion for rights to such events.
Let’s see what rabbit Lawson produces from his hat.
