England and India won their matches as the third Cricket World Cup for the Blind got underway here on Wednesday. The matches scheduled for first two days — Monday and Tuesday — were postponed due to rains.

Put into bat first, Australia scored 164 for the loss of five wickets. Hyder made 45 runs. England achieved the target in the last over with Cim Guttridge top scoring with 54 runs. Interestingly, all the batsmen from both the teams were run out.
Helped by huge centuries from Shaker Naik and Rajinder Virma, India defeated New Zealand by 276 runs at F-9 Park Cricket Ground.
India scored 329 for the loss of four wickets. This match was reduced to 18 overs a-side. Virma hit 150 while Naik scored 100.
New Zealand managed just 53 runs for the loss of two wickets. India also gained one bonus for its big win.
The match between the West Indies and Sri Lanka could not be played and both the teams were awarded two points each.
The matches which were postponed on December 4 will be played today. Pakistan will open their campaign to defend their title against Australia.
The matches scheduled for Tuesday, would now be played on December 12, which earlier was marked as a rest day.
In case of postponement of any match from now on, the two sides will be awarded with two points each as no reserve day is left now.
