England’s last Ashes warm-up match against South Australia ended in a draw at the Adelaide Oval here on Sunday.

England captain Andrew Flintoff and South Australia skipper Darren Lehmann agreed to call off the match early with no result possible. When the play ended, South Australia were 164-2 in their second innings, trailing England by four runs, after the tourists had made 415 in their first innings.

South Australian opening batsman Daniel Harris was 71 not out with Callum Ferguson unbeaten on seven at the end. Former Australian Test opener Matthew Elliott made 55 before falling to left-arm spinner Monty Panesar while Cameron Borgas made 27 before he was dismissed by Kevin Pietersen.

England’s tail-end batsmen had earlier shown some encouraging signs with the bat ahead of the first Test against Australia starting in Brisbane on Thursday.

Skipper Andrew Flintoff made 47 before he was bowled by leg-spinner Cullen Bailey while paceman Sajid Mahmood, a last-minute replacement for the injured Steve Harmison, smacked 41 before he was stumped off Lehmann.

Wicket-keeper Geraint Jones also chipped in with a handy 33 as England lifted their overnight total from 303-6 to 415 all out in the morning session.
