English Often Puke in Pressure
It has always been the trait of English team that it presents a very dismal performance in the pressure and crunch situations. Whether it is the world cup or any series at home or abroad, where a shade of pressure comes, English balloon starts shrinking in no time in a very funny way.
The current victory of the average and dilapidated West Indies team over England in the One Day Internationals is yet another proof of this common characteristic of English team. Though English team was comparatively better than the guest Windies, they crumbled like cookies in ODIs.
Former English test player and a prominent cricket analyst Jonathan has also expressed somewhat similar sentiments. He has also added that West Indies played in good fashion if not best, and made England learn an appropriate and objective lesson.
He also praised Chris Gayle over his captaincy, batting and fielding. Chris Gayle is famous for his ground-breaking shots and lofty sixers. Chris Gayle also showed his mettle and resolve as an aggressive and calculated ODI captain. When Chris Gayle exerted pressure, England just shuddered, nightmares of Ricky Ponting frightened them, and they were scattered all over the field.
As the founder of the game, England should seriously start thinking about their performance at the international level. British are famous world over for their excellence, performance, hardwork and quality, but their cricket team is so opposite to these standards. It hasn’t even won a single world cup, and hasn’t performed any brilliantly in any significant world level tournaments except one or two rare cases.
Its time English team should start rising above the average.
