Flintoff will do an excellent job: Strauss

Andrew Strauss insists he will do everything he can to help new England skipper Andrew Flintoff in the Ashes battle this winter.
The Lancashire all-rounder was chosen to lead his country against Australia, despite the fact he is still recovering from ankle surgery. His absence meant Strauss took charge and he steered the side to a Test series win over Pakistan and a 2-2 draw in the ODI Series.
However, the Middlesex left-hander lost out to Flintoff for the job for the ICC Champions Trophy and the Ashes, although he intends to help the new skipper in any way he can.
“Fred and I get on well and there is not going to be any problems between us whatsoever,” he told. “I think Fred is going to do an excellent job and I know he’s going to need the support of the experienced players around him. If there’s anything I can do to help him take back the Ashes with us then I’ll do everything I can to help,” he added.
“I’ve always said it’s not for people to judge who is the right man to lead England. I certainly haven’t given up hope of captaining England in the future, but for the time being it’s important for both Fred and the English cricket team that we get 100 percent behind him and do all we can as a unit to make sure we win the Ashes once more,” he explained.
