Gul happy with match-winning show
Pakistan pacer Umar Gul expressed his delight after taking three wickets at a crucial stage to set up his team’s victory over New Zealand in the semifinal of the World Twenty20 event here on Saturday.
“I am feeling very excited after taking those three wickets as my performance broke their middleorder. It feels very good to perform like this and contribute in the team’s victory”, he said.
He said that he always endeavours to be a useful support to his team and in this tournament he is bowling with good line and length to get as much as wickets he can.
“It was an exciting match against New Zealand and we restricted them to a low total in spite of their good opening stand. I was thinking that I should be there to stop them and I did it according to my plan for which I am thankful to the God,” he added.
Gul said that it is a part of match strategy to call him for bowling late in the innings and so far it has worked out well and he is really happy to perform to a higher extent in most of the matches.
“Today is special day of my career as we have qualified for the final and there is a modest contribution from myself and I am looking forward to play a similar role in the final as well,” he expressed.
He said he is getting extra support from skipper Shoaib Malik. “Shoaib is a good planner; he plans according to the strength of opponents and he brings me to bowl at a time when the rivals are not expecting a change in the bowling,” he explained.
