Imran backs Waqar to continue as bowling coach

Former Pakistan cricket captain and prime all-rounder of his era Imran Khan has backed former fast-bowling great Waqar Younis to continue as the national bowling coach.
In an exclusive chat here on Wednesday, Imran praised the legendary fast bowler’s performance. Imran said that the young fast bowlers are getting useful tips from Waqar and added that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should keep him, a 87-Test veteran, as the bowling coach because Pakistan need a good bowling attack for the 2007 World Cup
Imran deplored the performance of national team in the recently concluded tour of England.
He held coach Bob Woolmer responsible for the team’s poor show. Woolmer has totally failed in making the winning strategy while he does not know how to use the player according to his ability, Imran stated.
According to the former skipper, Woolmer has not been able to produce an opening pair for the last two years, adding that still he is making experiments that are harming the talent of upcoming cricketers.
“You have tried Shahid Afridi as an opener and one down for many years but he failed and now again in the last two one-dayers against England you are again sending him (Afridi) as number two; why are you doing this, when you know he can’t get runs at the opening position?” Imran questioned.
About The Oval Test controversy, Imran said the PCB should take up the case in court where they can ask Darrell Hair to show the proof (of the ball-tampering charges he made against Pakistan), adding that now in the International Cricket Council (ICC) one can’t ask Hair for the evidence.
