India Not Coming; No Need to Plead
India were scheduled to play three Tests, five ODIs and a Twenty20 match during the tour although there had already been grave doubts about it going ahead over security concerns. I would say good riddance.
Though it would have a short term very near sighted damage to the Pakistani cricket and yes some million dollars of losses to the Pakistan Cricket Board and a bad taste for the cricket in South Asia, but India has been exposed in its obstinate behaviour and its hegemonic designs in the region to dictate.
As was expected of them the Indian cricket board yesterday cancelled next year’s tour of Pakistan on instructions from the government in the wake of the Mumbai siege. Relations between the nuclear-armed neighbours have been badly strained since last month’s terror attacks, which India blames on militants based in Pakistan, though didnt provide any proof of Pakistan’s involvement.
It would’ve been the fifth series between the two countries since 2004, when cricket ties resumed after a 15-year gap caused by cross-border tensions.
