Andrew Symonds was once again the star and his massive agile century sealed the coffin of Indian in this series, as one more match to go in the series. Andrew Symonds told media, after his blistering century that he really didn’t care about the racist chants of spectators and the ill-manners of Indian team players, as it is a common trait of Indians, and he wasn’t particularly disturbed by this hollow aggression. Ricky Ponting, the formidable Australian Captain also expressed his disappointment over the actions of crowd, yet he said that it could be one of the incentives for their immaculate wins over Indian.

In the match against India, Australia showed their full authority and might. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Though India got the first breakthrough in no time, when Zaheer Khan got rid of Clarke with the help of Dhoni, Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting displayed their mettle by a superb partnership littered with spectacular boundaries. Gilchrist made his yet another half century and was caught by Uthappa on the ball of Irfan Pathan at the score of 51(47), which included 8 fours. Ponting also made some scintillating runs. Though he was unable to complete his half century and was taken over by Turbinator at the score of 49, he set the tone for the innings.

Then at one end Andrew Symonds put bolts to all the doors towards pavilion and opened up the shower of fours and sixes over the bewildered Zaheer, SreeSanth, Irfan, Harbhajan, Tendulkar and Murali Karthik. While at one end he scored an unbeaten 107 runs, other Australian players came, scored some valuable runs, and kept on departing. On the other end came Haddin with 25, Hopes with 39, and Brett Lee with 17. When Australia was done with Indians, India was facing the target of 318 runs.

If you sit and analyze Indian batting lineup on papers, then its the best batting lineup in the world. With the likes of Ganguly, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Utthappa, Dhoni, Karthik, Irfan and Rahul Dravid, 317 looked like a peanut. And given the beautiful opening partnership between Ganguly and Tendulkar, there was little doubt in the minds of buzzing crowd that Indian would not beat Aussies at last in a run chase. But things started to look ugly for Indian after Sachin was stumped by Gilchrist off Hopes. Then it was all good byes to India, though Indian tried nail bitingly hard to come back into the game, but Australia didn’t let them do so.
