Indian League or a Ploy
India really doesn’t leave any chance to create problems for Pakistan. Indian League invitations are the new ploy of Indians to pester Pakistanis. Now, these are the times, when a tyrant type chairman of board comes handy. And luckily enough, our good old, Dr. Nasim Ashraf, the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board has made it clear in very stern and matter of fact tone that the doors of Pakistani cricket will be closed upon those Pakistani cricketers who opt to play in Indian league. Nice work, Mr. chairman.
Chairman has taken a very firm and professional and patriotic stance on this issue. He said that the any Pakistani cricketer, without the respect of its seniority, will not be able to play for Pakistan, if he plays in Indian league. It has been reported that Indian league has invited former Pakistani captain Inzamam-ul-Haq to play for them. In addition, many other Pakistani players have also been invited, including Shoaib Akhtar. Indian league is offering a very huge amount of money to these players.
Nasim Ashraf hasn’t given any worth to Indian league and has said that its not a big and important issue, and the Indian league isn’t even recognized by International Cricket Council (ICC). He didn’t concede that the young players of his team are interested in playing for India, he just said that some old and about-to-be-retired players interested in earning some nice quick bucks by playing in Indian league.
Along with Inzamam, Indian has made its offer to Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Malik. This offer directly collides with the central contract of Pakistan Cricket Board. It is said that India will give players 8 crore Rupees in the first 3 years. Now its a litmus test for the Pakistan players, as what is more important for them; money or the nation.

In this article, there is some confusion between ICL (Indian Cricket League), a private enterprise just like that of Kerry Packer’s world series cricket in late ’70s, and between India the country. ICL is contacting the Pakistani players to play in its private league matches, not to play for India.

There is no confusion for us Pakistanis, Mr. Abhishek.
