Indian U-19s cricket team to tour Pakistan
Pakistan will host the Indian youth cricket team for a series of matches this fall, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said on Sunday.
According to the schedule of the Indian Under-19 team’s tour to Pakistan, the visitors would play a couple of four-day and three one-day matches during September and October. The Indian cricket board, the BCCI, has confirmed the tour of Pakistan. The Indian tour is a part of a regular exchange of cricket tours between the two neighbours at the youth level.
The PCB is scheduled to finalise the dates and venues of the series soon. It is expected that most of the matches would be held in smaller centres like Gujranwala, Seikhupura and Sialkot as a part of Pakistan’s bid to also promote cricket away from its main urban centres like Karachi and Lahore.
After hosting the Indian youngsters, Pakistan will then send their Under-19 squad to India next year for a similar series.
According to the PCB official, such matches against the Indian team would help local youngsters to get used to play under pressure besides providing them with valuable experience and exposure.
Like their senior cricketers, the Pakistani and Indian Under-19 players also have a strong rivalry and earlier this year both the teams reached the final of the Youth World Cup in Sri Lanka. Pakistan defeated India in the final to win the crown.
