India’s Reluctance to Tour Pakistan
MS Dhoni and company are to tour Pakistan in January-February next year to play three Tests, five One-day Internationals and Twenty20 International, but the things are in limbo due to the security reasons in Pakistan, while PCB is striving hard to convince India to come to Pakistan.
Shashank Manohar, the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), assured PCB that his team will tour Pakistan early next year as per schedule but many in the BCCI are very much against this tour and the government of India is also doesn’t look interested.
The PCB has suffered back-to-back setbacks this year after Australia refused to tour the country to play a full series in March-April and the International Cricket Council (ICC) postponed the Champions Trophy which was to be played here in September.
Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam wants to play Test matches against India at a neutral venue in case the Indian government does not clear its cricket team’s tour of Pakistan in January due to security concerns. Alam took over as coach from Geoff Lawson last month and succeeded in his first assignment as Pakistan beat the West Indies 3-0 in the one-day series in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. But his real test comes against India.
