India’s Tour to Pakistan Shifting

India is riding high. They have not only won the Twenty20 world champion ship earlier, they have recently also thoroughly defeated Australia and now England and they are all set to defeat any other team in the world. That and the oozing talent in their team coupled with the experience of the old guns like Tendulkar, Dravid and host of others has made them virtually invincible, whereas other teams seem dried-up.

They are not giving much importance to the Pakistan tour. First, because there is no hope of a matching competition. Secondly there are some genuine security concerns, and now bitterly Pakistan Cricket Board has also started to realize that. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) top brass is talking about hosting the series that is scheduled for January-February next year on home soil. PCB has offered many concessions to the Indian board, but in vain.

Now PCB has offered, through the back channels to shift the series to the neutral venue anywhere in United Arab Emirates. PCB chief Ijaz Butt is to tour India later this week to convince the Indian cricket board to send its team to Pakistan. The Indians are to play three Tests, five One-day Internationals and a Twenty20 International in the series which carries a lot of importance for Pakistan.
