Jayasuriya’s rare feat
Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya’s seems to be on the peak of his powers at a time when one was expecting him to hang his boots and make way for youngsters. In his last two ODI innings against England and Netherlands he has accumulated 309 runs by smashing 152 and 157 respectively. It is now the world record of most runs by a batsman in two consecutive innings.Â
The previous record in this regard was held by England’s David Gower who hit 158 and 122 in successive games to total 280. The record stood for 23 years until Jayasuriya below it away.
