Mohammad Yousuf, We Love You and Miss You

In the recent years, the only player which has brought some glory and respite to Pakistani Cricket buffs is Mohammad Yousuf. His stylish shots, lazy elegance and heaps of runs have warmed the hearts of many. Now due to some unfortunate events and some very bad and arrogant decisions on the part of PCB, Mohammad Yousuf finds himself nowhere.

To add insult to injury, former Pakistani skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq is also hell bent on destroying the Pakistani team, and he has lured many players to the Indian Cricket League. It was also reported in the media that Mohammad Yousaf also signed for the ICL. It may be true, but now the things are perhaps changing. Mohammad Yousaf has just returned from a religious trip, and now is scheduled to meet the chairman of PCB, Dr. Nasim Ashraf in couple of days.

In the recent Twenty20 World Cup, held in South Africa, every Pakistani cursed PCB for not including Mohammad Yousuf, and upon the inclusion of Younis Khan, who did nothing but harm the team after openers disappointed the team every time. Top Middle order power was missing, and all the pressure came to the lower middle order.

How in the hell could anybody in his right mind could drop Mohammad Yousuf from the team? Just recently International Cricket Council (ICC) presented Mohammad Yousuf with the best test player of the year. From August 2006 to August 2007, Mohammad Yousuf made 944 runs in ten test innings with the help of five smashing centuries. In this race, Mohammad Yousuf beat the likes of Ricky Ponting, Kevin Peitersen and Murali Dharan. Mohammad Yousuf didnt achieve this feat in one day. It was the result of his master class and the continuous hard work for years, and they dropped him from the Twenty20 world cup? Shameless and criminal act, indeed.

Chairman PCB, Dr. Ashraf now should either leave his ego and stubbornness or should leave the board. We need a professional, who make the decision with wisdom and without ego. Dr. Nasim wants to run board like a school. He has to save the treasures troves like Mohammad Yousuf. Yousaf is not like Inzi, Abdul Razzaq or Shoaib. He has got a very good nature, and is a selfless person. He wants to play for Pakistan, and board has got to play him in every format of the game, if they want to achieve some real results.
