Moody still eyeing Australian job
Tom Moody has kept open the option of coaching world champions Australia. Moody, who guided Sri Lanka to the World Cup final recently, had earlier been in the running for the position of coach of his national team but withdrew citing family commitments.
Tim Nielsen, who was head of the Australian Centre of Excellence, replaced John Buchanan as Australian coach. Moody recently took up the coaching position with Western Australia since he wanted his children to go through their schooling in his hometown Perth.
However, the 41-year-old now says he would be keen to take up the Australian job once he has seen through his family commitments.
“I’ve got plenty of time to continue coaching at international level, but I’ve only got this passage of my life — which is five or so years — where I can commit 100 per cent as a father and a family man,” he said.
