No contest for England captaincy, assures Strauss

Andrew Strauss admits he would love to carry on as captain of England after steering the side to a Test series win over Pakistan.
The home side’s 167-run triumph here at Headingley on Tuesday in the third Test of the four-match rubber opened up a 2-0 unbeatable lead with just one match still to play.
The win was England’s second under Strauss’s leadership after he took over from injured Andrew Flintoff. He is certain to carry on the England captaincy job in the five-match One-day International (ODI) series against Inzamam-ul-Haq’s touring party and the ICC Champions Trophy with Flintoff still recovering from the surgery on his ankle.
It is not yet known if he will step aside from the job if, as expected, Flintoff is fit in time for start of the Ashes series that begins in November.
Strauss insists he will have no problems if he is not in charge against Australians and is certain the entire team will be right behind whichever man the selectors decide is right for the job.
“I have enjoyed doing the job over the last three Test matches. I am looking forward to the fourth one (at The Oval),” he said.
