No-nonsense Taskmaster of PCB
When Dr. Nasim Ashraf was the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board under the sun of Musharraf and heard to nothing sane, the only man who raised some voice against the hegemony of the previous chairman who knew nothing about the practical cricket, was the now chairman of Ijaz Butt.
Cricketing pundits are praising the new chairman and terming him the right man for the right job at the right time and expect that he would do it in the right fashion. Pakistan’s new cricket chief Ijaz Butt is generally regarded as a no-nonsense taskmaster, with a rich experience of cricket administration. The former Test opener, who replaced Dr Nasim Ashraf as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman earlier this week, intends to use these credentials to lift the sport which he believes is in neck-deep crisis in Pakistan.
The new chairman has got many challenges and along with the dismal performance of the national team and the falling standards of the cricket in the country and no games for the team there is no honey moon for the new chairman to enjoy his new lucrative post.
He has to act fast.
