Pakistan, England and West Indies win in Blind World Cup

Pakistan began defence of their title on a winning note beating Australia by 10 wickets here at F-9 Park cricket ground on Thursday.

Aamir Ashfaq played an unbeaten innings of 112 as Pakistan chased the target of 190 in 16th over of the match. Tahir Ali also made good contribution with 67 runs.

Earlier, put into bat first, Australia were all out for 189 in 36 overs. Aamir Ashfaq and Muhammad Waqas claimed two wickets each.

England enjoyed their second win of the tournament, defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets at the PAF Cricket Ground.

Tim Guttradge and Field played unbeaten knocks reaching the victory target of 203 in the 26th over. Guttradge hit 90 while Field scored 86 runs.

Sri Lanka were all out for 202 in the stipulated 50 overs. Chandana Kumara was top scorer with 58 runs while K J Ratanae made 43.

The West Indies also defeated New Zealand by 10 wickets in a low-scoring match at the Shalimar Cricket Ground.

Batting first, New Zealand scored 123 for the loss of five wickets in 25 overs. The Caribbean side raced to the target with 11 overs to spare.

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affair, Dr. Sher Afgan Khan Niazi and Agha Shaukat Ali, the newly elected Regional Development Director of the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) distributed prizes among players.

Pakistan will take on New Zealand in their second match of the tournament at F-9 Park Ground today (Friday).

Meanwhile, India face England at E-9 Ground while Australia play against the West Indies at the Shalimar Cricket Ground.
