Batting star Brian Lara has admitted that one of the blemishes to an otherwise outstanding cricket career was his lack of patience during tough periods.

“My problems most of the time stemmed from mental side of game,” 38-year-old batting star Brian Lara said in an interview with Sky TV.

“A couple of those bowlers, maybe Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne tested those periods more where I wanted to move from being dominated to dominating and Glenn McGrath is not sort of person you dominate very easily,” he explained.

“Sometimes the weakness of my game was really my patience, not being able to understand the situation, hang in there a bit longer than I expected and working it out a little bit better,” he continued.

“I think McGrath in that department and maybe that is results of him getting me out most in world cricket shows that he’s has been a lot more patient than I was during those periods of time,” he added.

Lara finished his career as the leading run-scorer in Tests, having compiled 11953 runs in 131 matches at an average of 52, with 34 centuries.
