Former Pakistan cricket captain Saleem Malik, who was not allowed to play in the veterans’ series against India because of match fixing charges pending against him, has advised [tag]PCB[/tag] chief Shahryar Khan to better return to his job at the foreign office, since “cricket was not his domain”.

Khan, a retired foreign service diplomat, assumed the office of PCB chief a couple of years back, replacing Tauqir Zia.

Saleem made the remark while speaking at a reception held by Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy in the honour of the visiting Indian Senior cricket team on Saturday.

Earlier, when Saleem urged the PCB to allow to play in the series, Shaharyar had advised the former Test star to play cricket at his home and forget about representing the country, reports The News. Malik had cited India’s Mohammad Azharuddin’s case who also faced similar match fixing charges but was allowed by the [tag]BCCI[/tag] to represent his country in the veterans’ series.

Saleem criticised the PCB management claiming that Shaharyar and his hand-picked officials in the PCB “had no knowledge of the game”, and also blasted the Board for engaging Bob Woolmer and his South African back-up staff on astronomical salaries which was nothing “but wastage of money”.
