Pollock moves upto fourth in all-time ODI bowler rankings
South African cricket all-rounder Shaun Pollock moved to fourth in the all-time ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers following yet another stellar performance.
The 33-year-old took 2-13 off ten overs in his most recent ODI against Pakistan in Cape Town cementing his place as one of the most consistent ODI bowlers in the world. This moves him up to a personal best rating of 910 points and a clear leader at the top of the ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers. He is 118 points ahead of Australia’s Glenn McGrath in second place.
Pollock is now ranked fourth in all-time list, just three ratings points behind Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan’s best ever rating of 913 he managed against New Zealand in April 2002. Meanwhile, Pollock’s teammate Makhaya Ntini is also making moves in the ODI bowlers’ rankings, having gone up two places to third spot overall. He moved past New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori and Australian pacer Brett Lee.
South African’s Andrew Hall and Charl Langeveldt are also upwardly mobile, with Hall moving up six places to 19th and Langeveldt up 10 places to the 41st spot.
England now has two players in the top ten ODI all-rounders. Andrew Flintoff moved one place to third and Paul Collingwood broke into the top ten for the first time, moving up four places to seventh spot. Collingwood also reached his personal best in the batsmen rankings moving up 16 places to 23rd.
The rankings for ODI batsmen are still headed by Mike Hussey with Australian teammate Ricky Ponting in second and England’s Kevin Pietersen in third spot.
