Proceedings of PCB’s First Meeting
The same board with the same board management and same chairman will keep working on their respective designations for the next three years. Dr. Nasim Ashraf was ecstatic over his default selection as the next chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, and praised the “acumen” and “farsightedness” of the members of governing body.
In the first meeting of the governing body, Justice Ijaz Yousuf wasn’t present due to his new responsibilities after PCO, but he would remain as the member of the governing board. The first meeting, which was held in Lahore, took some run-of-the-mill and passive decision, which if not taken, wouldn’t have made much of a difference.
In the “groundbreaking” decisions taken by the board, the salient ones include the appointment of the chairman PCB for next three years, appointment of the same chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi, and the appointment of the same chief financial officer, and the appointment of same DCO Zakir Khan and the rest of the board management.
It was also decided in the board that Shoaib Malik will remain the captain of the team for the next one year, and the vice captain would be nominated on series by series basis. Current board committees and the governing body will remain in function for the next two years.
Another very “advanced” decision taken in the meeting was that the next meeting of the board will be held in Karachi on 9th January, and the third meeting will be held in Peshawar, and then in Quetta, and the next one in Islamabad. Initially the meetings will be held every alternate month, and then they will be held after every three months.
Governing body has approved eight committees to run the affairs of PCB, which include Cricket committee, Disciplinary committee, Finance and Accounts Committee, Infrastructure Committee, Internal audit committee, Governance rules committee, media and PR committee, and HR committee. Every member of the governing body would head the newly organized committees.
Nobody even given the damn to the most required issue: New Talent for Pakistani team.
