Return of Shoaib Akhtar
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will handover the stadiums of Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi to the International Cricket Council (ICC) on August 15 for the Champions Trophy. That and the PCB has announced that it would introduce some stunning talented new faces from Pakistani side in the Champions Trophy with the mix of old talent.
Coach Geoff Lawson has also said categorically that he certainly looks forward to have Shoaib Akhtar back in the team, because only after his inclusion there exists any chance of Pakistan showing any considerable performance in the prestigious tournament. Shoaib Malik has shown some reservation about the Rawalpindi Express off the stage, but he has been told to concentrate on his own performance.
It is also learnt that PCB has given last warning to Shahid Khan Afridi to improve his game for the tournament, and if he fails to show any serious effort and performance in the initial couple of matches of Champions Trophy, then it would be likely curtains for him.
It’s really time that PCB get rid of non performants and introduce new faces with promise.
