Ramnaresh Sarwan has been named as captain of West Indies following the retirement of Brian Lara.
Sarwan was the favourite to take on the role, although he was known to have concerns about the relationship between board and players. He has been placed on probation with strict performance targets.
He wll lead the West Indies on tour to England next month, although the trip continues to be shrouded in confusion after contractual talks between the board and WIPA, the players’ association, broke down. The issue is now being overseen by arbitrators.
