Sarwan making progress from injury comeback
West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan said he was pleased with his fitness, after playing his first competitive cricket match in six weeks.
“I feel a lot better. I am pretty pleased with the progress I am making with my foot,” he said. The 26-year-old right-hander missed Guyana’s first two matches of the Carib-Series after fracturing a bone in his foot against Pakistan last December, while batting in the third and final Test of that series.
“I feel much better now, maybe about 90-95 per cent. Its much better running, and I think that is more important,” Sarwan noted. “I felt more comfortable moving to my left and right now than in the first innings.”
However, he admitted there was still some discomfort, especially running one and twos while batting. “There wasn’t much (discomfort) when I was batting. I was pretty comfortable, but when I tried to turn and push off, that’s when I felt a little (discomfort), but apart from that it is pretty okay.”
