Shahrukh Khan Fights with Modi Over Shoaib
As the wishy-washy saga of Shoaib Akhtar is unfolding in Pakistan, waves are being felt in other parts of the world, as the International Cricket Council is smelling the odour of match fixing and Indian Premier League worrying about it’s team players.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ chief Shah Rukh Khan is once again snatching the media limelight by rallying behind Shoaib Akhtar and he has said that he would do everything to bring Shoaib Akhtar back in his team. He is of the opinion that PCB’s decision is only for the international cricket, and IPL is not an international event, and he says that without Shoaib Akhtar there is no spark and spice in his team, and he would rather withdraw from IPL.
Lalit Modi, chairman of IPL, told the media that the BCCI cannot bend its rules for anybody. “This is not an arbitrary decision, but a collective decision by the IPL governing council. Shoaib has been banned to play from matches in all forms of the game played either at the international or domestic level. This decision was taken abiding by the operational rules of the IPL. Under Section 3(A) rule number 12, the clause clearly states that any player who is under suspension by his national cricket governing authority, will not be allowed to play for the IPL until the ban is lifted. Shoaib has appealed to the PCB and post the appeal, if cleared he will play for the Knight Riders,” According to newspaper reports.
Then Shahrukh Khan telephoned Lalit Modi over this issue and asked him to rethink about Shoaib Akhtar. Lalit asked Shahrukh Khan to concentrate on his team and leave the administrative decisions to the BCCI and IPL management. King Khan didn’t like this much, and has threatened to leave IPL.
Shoaib has made things really interesting not only for himself but also for some people across the border.
