Shoaib Akhtar for Champion’s Trophy
Pakistan is getting good news as per regard of Champion’s Trophy. Chief executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Haroon Lorgat said that Pakistan so far retains the hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy. That and a renewed strength is coming back to the Pakistani cricket team after Shoaib Akhtar is all set to make a come back after a long long time.
Shoaib’s chances are more bright as Umer Gul is likely to miss the Champtions Trophy as he is still recovering from a rib cartilage injury that forced him out of the Asia Cup earlier this summer and has become a doubtful starter. Mohammad Asif is facing dual charges of opium usage and the doping controversy and he is an elusive chance for the eight-nation tournament to be played from September 12-28.
Pakistan are to name their Champions Trophy team tomorrow following a series of meetings between the national selection committee and Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik and coach Geoff Lawson, and both coach and captain have given approving nod to the inclusion of Shoaib Akhtar in the team.
Now Shoaib Akhtar must behave himself and try to prove his mettle in the ground with the ball.
