Four more of Pakistan’s World Cup squad players were dope tested in Karachi on Saturday, leaving just the pace duo of Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif and all-rounder Shahid Afridi as the players yet to go through the exercise.

Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical commission chief Dr Sohail Saleem took urine samples of Mohammad Yousuf, Danish Kaneria and Mohammad Sami here at a local hotel.

Vice-captain Younis Khan could not make it to the hotel and his urine sample was collected by the Board official at the National Stadium where the player was shooting a commercial.

Shoaib, Asif and Afridi are now the only three left from Pakistan 20-man pool for the World Cup who are yet to be tested.

A PCB spokesman said that the trio would be tested as soon as possible. “The three players were out of the country because of different reasons and their tests would be carried out within the next couple of days,” said the official.

Shoaib has returned home after getting a second opinion on his knee injury from specialists in England while Asif went to London to seek treatment for minor fitness problems.

Afridi is currently in England to play in a charity game.

Shoaib and Asif raised a storm last October when they tested positive for banned anabolic steroid nandrolone.

They were banned but subsequently cleared by an appeals committee in December. The duo has been included in Pakistan’s 15-man World Cup squad subject to fitness.
