Shoaib shouldn’t rush back from injury: Wasim
Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram on Sunday advised speedster Shoaib Akhtar not to look for his early return to international cricket after missing the Caribbean World Cup due to knee injury.
“He (Shoaib) should not rush his return to cricket and take his time to recover from his injury,” said Wasim, who started a two-week coaching camp for youngsters in Lahore.
The former skipper opined that the express bowler is still a vital part of team’s pace attack and said he could only deliver for Pakistan by keeping himself fit.
Wasim said that the maverick fast bowler can still play for the country for a couple of years but said he can only do this by avoiding injuries through proper care. “Shoaib can still play a couple of years for the country if he takes good care of himself to avoid further injuries,” he said. Shoaib missed the March-April World Cup due to recurrence of a knee injury.
