Squad for ODI in India
Billions of cricket fans are waiting for the upcoming India-Pakistan series, which will be held in India in November. Traditional rivalry between two nations and the expected nail-biting, thrilling and exciting matches have also made this series more sought after.
Pakistan has announced its squad for the One Day Internationals with Shoaib Malik as captain, and his deputy in the team will be announced later, though out-of-form, the former vice-captain Salman Butt has also been included in the team. For the five ODI series, Shoaib Akhtar and Fawad Alam have also been included.
Chief Selector Salahuddin Sallu announced the 16-member Pakistani team in Multan Cricket Stadium. This squad includes the default names of Shoaib Malik the skipper, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-haq, Salman Butt, Yasir Hamid, Imran Nazir, Kamran Akmal wicket keeper, Mohammad Asif, Umer Gul, Shoaib Akhtar, Rao Iftikhar Anjum, Sohail Tanvir, Abdur Rehman and Fawad Alam. Some players would be called back after the ODI series.
On paper, Pakistani squad is much weaker in front of formidable Indian team, which consists of the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni, Ganguly, Gambhir, Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth and the rest. Pakistani team has shown the fighting spirit, and the only way for their success is through hardwork and passion.

Instead of Shoaib Mlik, Younas Khan would have been a better option to lead the Pakistani National side. Younas Khan is more matured and better suited for leading the team than his teammate and captain Shoaib Malik. I think it would be in the better interest of the team and cricket in Pakistan to appoint Youas Khan the captain, and Shahid Afridi the vice captain sooner than later.
