Sri Lanka Trying to Keep India-Pakistan Happy
Sri Lanka had stepped in to tour Pakistan following India’s cancellation of their visit from January 4 to February 21. India never liked that and the diplomatic circles of India were trying to sabotage the series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan since then and though they didn’t succeed in sabotaging the series, they managed to blot it.
Now Sri Lanka are looking at splitting their proposed tour of Pakistan in order to squeeze in a home five-ODI series against India. Under the plan, Sri Lanka will visit Pakistan for the limited-overs leg of their tour later this month, return home for India’s visit and head back to Pakistan to play three Tests.
Another hope for the Pakistan Cricket Board is Australia. Australia has reiterated its preference to play the ODI series in Pakistan. The Australians had postponed their tour of Pakistan in March-April last year citing security concerns, following the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto. However, Cricket Australia ensured PCB that it will send its team to Pakistan on two separate occasions in 2009.
Australia surely owes it to Pakistan.
