TEN Sports to air India-West Indies ODI, Test series
Former Indian Test batsman Sanjay Manjrekar will return as the host of the much-acclaimed ‘Straight Drive’ show as the TEN Sports channel telecasts live the upcoming India-West Indies one-day and Test series starting in Jamaica May 18.
Discussing the nuances of the game with Manjrekar in the 90-minute programme before the day’s play will be former Australia captains Ian Chappell and Alan Border, former Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath and ex-West Indies opener Desmond Haynes.
The programme will return during the lunch and tea breaks of Test matches, and during the mid-innings interval of the ODIs, the Dubai-based company said in a statement.
Apart from the high-profile Straight Drive team, TEN Sports has assembled a star-studded commentary team comprising former Test players Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Ian Bishop, Jeffrey Dujon and Dean Jones, and renowned West Indies commentator and writer Tony Cozier.
The first two ODIs will start at 8 p.m. IST (Indian Standard Time), while the remaining three will begin at 7 p.m. IST. All the one-dayers are day matches.
The first three Test matches will start at 7:30 p.m. IST, while the final Test will begin an hour later, said the statement.
The Indian team, led by Rahul Dravid, left here for the West Indies early Friday to play five one-day internationals and four Tests.
This will be India’s ninth tour to West Indies. India will be looking forward to notch their first Test series win in 35 years in the West Indies. The last time India won a series in the Caribbean was in 1971.
