Test Match at Qaddafi
For one test matches already dont attract much spectators in the ground especially in Pakistan and to add insult to injury, the plight of our stadiums is so dismal, nobody dares to come or stay for full whole day to just watch a boring test match. Recent on going test match between South Africa and Pakistan in the Qaddafi stadium Lahore is no different. Regardless of the pulse of match, the facilities in the stadiums are no where to be seen.
If a fan wants to watch the test match, first he has to buy the ticket with great difficult from a designated branch of bank, as the tickets are not available outside of the stadium, which is very strange and cumbersome. Then when he reaches to stadiums, he is frisked by animals like policeman sternly two times, before he could see the grass of field. When he, at last reaches to the stadium, he faces first disappointment by not finding any shaded place to sit. Then after some time, he realizes that he has to keep to himself, as there is no one in sight in his enclosure and that policeman in the far corner is continuously watching him with a leer. After a while that spectator finds that he has to use the washrooms. But to his utter anxiety, almost all of them are closed, and which one are open are broken and devoid of any water or toilet paper.
The fat and inordinate administratin of Qaddafi stadium has opened up three booth as a favour for the common spectators. Few of the spectators who came to watch match on the first day of the second test match between Pakistan and South Africa were shocked to see some of ther former cricket legends like Javed Miandad in the common enclosure. Javed Miandad told press that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), refused to give him the pass for the first class booth. Javed along with the half dozen other cricket buffs enjoyed the vapid match and scorching sun rays.
In the recent test match, PCB after the dis-interest of spectators took a good action and allowed a free entry to the students. So on the first day of this test match, there were some cheers, whistles and claps for the home team from the students who ranged from class one to class 2nd year. In their fun moments, they kept on cheering both teams, which added a little color to the otherwise bland game, in which South Africa blended Pakistani bowlers with gusto.
