Test match organisers make a blunder!
The organisers of the opening Test between Pakistan and India here at the Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium seems to have blundered by painting red the enclosure adjacent to the sight screen at the prestigious venue.
It is feared that the vast, freshly-painted enclosure might trouble the batsmen and it is expected that match official might take notice of it ahead of Thursday’s start of the first Test. Meanwhile, the Kotla wicket looks sluggish and is expected to favour the slow bowlers. India have already announced three spinners in their Test squad while Pakistan have two specialist spinners — Danish Kaneria and Abdul Rehman — while their skipper Shoaib Malik could chip in as the third slow bowler in the line-up.
The rival teams will get the feel of the conditions at the Kotla when they carry out practice sessions at the venue today. Pakistan manager Talat Ali Malik told this correspondent here on Monday that his team will have a meeting to discuss the playing eleven for the opening Test after carrying out a nets session at the venue this morning.
