Wave of Disciplinary Actions

From SreeSanth to Shoaib Akhtar to Abdul Razzaq and some of others, players are facing tough music from their respective boards, skippers, media and the fans. It seems that the Asian boards have at last decided to keep tabs on the player powers and they have realized the importance and long run advantages of the professionalism in the game.

Shoaib Akhtar, who is a chronic problem for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has recently been fined for Rs. 300,000 by the board as he just left the training camp at Karachi without notification and then he didnt respond to the board upon inquiry.

SreeSanth, who is a funny little trouble, has recently been warned over his disgusting behavior with the English player during the on-going test series in England. He has also been warned by his skipper Rahul Dravid and the Indian Board. Dravid said that this player is a child and still learning and will be ok in the coming years.

Abdul Razzaq, who is normally a very calm and quiet person, has also been questioned by PCB over his recent outburst over his expulsion from the twenty20 world cup which is to be held soon in South Africa. Abdul Razzaq said that he was just plain disappointed and only couldn’t control his emotions, he was certain to win his place in the twenty20 world cup squad, and he uttered some aggressive statements out of sheer frustration.

Its good to see Asian boards taking stern, timely and matter-of-fact disciplinary actions against the players. This would help a lot to reduce the player power. It would be more hard for India due to the presence of the giants like Sachin, Ganguly, Dravid and others, but its a very unique chance for PCB to streamline the issues within and outside the team, and currently PCB is apparently pursuing the right course of actions.
