West Indies Test series loss to put India behind Pakistan
Pakistan will overtake old rivals India in the international Test rankings if Rahul Dravid’s men continue their disappointing run in the Caribbean during the Test series that began in Antigua on Friday.
The Pakistanis would replace India on the No. 3 spot if the visitors lose in the Test series.
The Indians were thrashed 4-1 by the West Indies in the recently concluded One-day International (ODI) series.
The Indians are currently placed third in the ICC rankings, just two points behind second-placed England. India have a total of 111 points, just two more than fourth-placed Pakistan.
If India succumbs to the resurging West Indies they will fall behind Pakistan in the rankings. Even a narrow 0-1 or 1-2 defeat in the series would result in a fall to fourth place on the ICC computer.
Currently, the West Indies are ranked eighth, 39 points behind India, but the tourists need to make a clean sweep of the four-match series to boost their ratings. A 4-0 success for India will lift them to 112 rating points and drop the West Indies to 70.
