Will They Ever Learn?

How could Pakistani team improve, if they won’t accept their weaknesses and pledge to improve them? Recent defeat against South Africa in the home test series doesn’t seem to affect anyone. Pakistani Spectators have already left the interest, and that is clearly evident from the empty stadiums in Karachi and Lahore in both of the tests. Captain Shoaib Malik and vice Captain Salman Butt are as aloof as hill, and have just shrugged it off. Rest of the team players disappeared from the ground after getting thrashed by Protean like horns from the head of donkey.

Even in the grand press conference held by Chairman PCB Dr. Nasim Ashraf, no official including the chairman shed any serious light over the improvement in the current team and the grave situation of talent famine in Pakistani Cricket. All the focus of PCB seems to be upon allowing current players to play Indian Premier League, and to follow the case against Darrell Hair, or giving away loads of money to the incompetent national players.

Chairman PCB is trying to formalize the affairs of the board, as the constitution of PCB is getting implemented at a turtle pace. He told media that he had sent the names of PCB’s governing body to Patron-in-Chief President Pervez Musharraf and waiting for his approval. These red tapes and bureaucracy has already hampered the approval of constitution and now it will take ages to get the names of governing body approved, and one can easily predict that by the time the names will come after approval, if they came at all, the body would itself become a skeleton.

This man, Dr. Nasim Ashraf clearly enjoys the limelight of media, and he also likes to speech. His diatribes and harangues do bore the press and other audience, but he remains oblivious to it, and drags the things at length. He also once again told the story of Shoaib Akhtar to media, and told in a loud and firm voice, that he will not be forgiven in future, if he repeats such gesture of ill-discipline. He also said while leering that they are looking for a good psychiatrist for the pacer.

Nasim Ashraf didn’t give a damn to the defeat of Pakistan against South Africa, and instead shamelessly he praised the effort of Younis Khan, Kamran Akmal and Mohammad Yousuf to draw the last test match in Lahore. What a shame. All of them should be spanked hard by not showing courage and winning the match. I am afraid PCB will again give millions of rupees to these dirtballs. To add insult to injury, Dr. Nasim said that he is so impressed with the performance of young captain Shoaib Malik, and now he will lead the Pakistani squad even in the next year.
